Refurbished or new parts

Refurbished or new

  • Refurbished parts: these are genuine Apple parts, tested and fully working.
  • New parts: unless otherwise stated on the product page, these are carefully selected, very high-quality compatible parts.

All our parts are checked before dispatch and come with a 2-year warranty.

Before fitting

Check that the part exactly matches your model (see Finding your MacBook model). An incorrectly fitted part is no longer covered by the warranty: if in doubt, ask our team for advice, or entrust the repair to a professional who will order the part themselves (see Having a part fitted by a repairer). Our tutorials take you through each repair step by step.

How to find your MacBook model

If your Mac turns on

Open the Apple menu (top left), then select About This Mac: the model and year will be displayed.

On the underside of your Mac

Turn the computer over: in the small print, you’ll find the model number (A followed by 4 digits, e.g. A2337) and the EMC number (4 digits). The serial number is also shown there, and you can use it on Apple’s website to look up your model.

Our Identify your MacBook page shows which model each of these numbers corresponds to. On every product page, check that your model number is listed.

Having a part fitted by a repairer

Who fits the part?

Our parts are sold to be fitted by the person who orders them. If you’re having your Mac repaired, your repairer should order the part.

Why this rule?

  • Most repairers prefer to supply their own parts: a reluctant fitting rarely goes well.
  • If something goes wrong, we need to be able to help the person carrying out the repair directly.
  • Damage caused during fitting (damaged connector or flex cable, knocks, a part forced into place) is never covered.

What the warranty says

Our 2-year warranty (replacement, or a credit note if the product is no longer in stock) applies only if the part is fitted by the person who ordered it. A part fitted by someone else is not covered.

Not planning to do the repair yourself, but want to benefit from our prices, including on genuine Apple parts? Tell your repairer about Repair Mac Parts: they should then order the part directly from our website.

Our advice

  • Having your Mac repaired? Ask your repairer to order the part themselves: they’ll then be responsible for it from start to finish.
  • Want to fit it yourself? Our guides walk you through repairs step by step, and our team of technicians can help you.
  • Are you a repairer? Order directly on the website, in your own name: you’ll be covered by the warranty.
