Having a part fitted by a repairer

Would you rather leave your repair to a professional? Find out who our parts are intended for, what this means for the warranty and what to do if you’re using a repairer.

Who fits the part?

Our parts are sold to be fitted by the person who orders them. If you’re having your Mac repaired, your repairer should order the part.

Why this rule?

  • Most repairers prefer to supply their own parts: a reluctant fitting rarely goes well.
  • If something goes wrong, we need to be able to help the person carrying out the repair directly.
  • Damage caused during fitting (damaged connector or flex cable, knocks, a part forced into place) is never covered.

What the warranty says

Our 2-year warranty (replacement, or a credit note if the product is no longer in stock) applies only if the part is fitted by the person who ordered it. A part fitted by someone else is not covered.

Not planning to do the repair yourself, but want to benefit from our prices, including on genuine Apple parts? Tell your repairer about Repair Mac Parts: they should then order the part directly from our website.

Our advice

  • Having your Mac repaired? Ask your repairer to order the part themselves: they’ll then be responsible for it from start to finish.
  • Want to fit it yourself? Our guides walk you through repairs step by step, and our team of technicians can help you.
  • Are you a repairer? Order directly on the website, in your own name: you’ll be covered by the warranty.
